Team 9 Receiving

Receiving is located in Room 156, on the first floor of Stanley Hall, at the north end of the building.  Hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  If you have questions about Receiving, please call 666-3654 or email


Shipping arrangements with regard to pick up requests, labeling, and packaging is the lab’s responsibility.  In the event that you need help creating a FedEx account number, fill out the FedEx Access Request form and send it to Liway Martinez at  Please note that you would need an active speedtype for the “billing reference” when creating a FedEx label.  Bring your package(s) with completed shipping label to Receiving and your package(s) will go out on the next pickup.

Dry ice and hazardous shipments must have the proper packaging labels or they will not be picked up.  Please call Receiving at 666-3654 for questions regarding packaging dry ice or for questions on the proper label.  For all other hazardous shipments, please contact EH&S for proper instructions.

Excess and Salvage 

Excess and Salvage items can be delivered to Receiving at any time.  If the item is marked with a property tag you must abide by the following guidelines prior to dropping off the item.  

  • If it has a UCB property tag, please contact Kris Thompson (666-3382) with the tag number and your reason for wanting to salvage it. 
  • If it has other tags, such as HHMI or LBNL, please contact that agency’s property management to get confirmation of disposal and have them send confirmation to
  • If the item contains any form of refrigerant, a chartstring will be required to cover the $55 freon removal fee.

Please make sure that surplus items brought to the loading dock have identification regarding which lab they came from. Untagged items can be delivered to Receiving without any documentation or reason for salvage.
